The meteo broadcast on television invariably
shows a crescent, stretching from the border
with Spain to Nîmes and beyond, with a
totally different weather forecast that the
rest of France. The area within the crescent
has a Mediterranean climate, with hot dry summers,
cool winters, and moderate springs and autumns.

After Corsica, the Languedoc-Roussillon
region is the hottest in France. The coastline,
sheltered by mountains, tends to be sunnier
and warmer than the inland areas. The mountains,
of course, tend to be cooler. |
